How to use this tool
- Add your images. Drag them into the box or tap Choose Images. The 100 KB target is already set.
- Click Compress. The tool tries different quality levels and keeps the best one that fits under 100 KB.
- Download the result. Check the new size in the list, then save one file or download them all as a ZIP.
Where a 100 KB limit comes up
100 KB is a common limit on job portals, application forms and online account profiles. It's also a sensible size for images in a newsletter or on a web page, where smaller files load quicker.
A modern phone photo is often 3–5 MB, so getting it under 100 KB means reducing it to a small fraction of its original size. You could do this by trial and error in a photo editor, but this page does the searching for you.
How the tool gets to 100 KB
- It adjusts quality first. It looks for the highest quality setting that fits, so you don't lose more detail than necessary.
- It reduces dimensions if it has to. When even low quality isn't enough, it makes the picture smaller, and tells you the new size in pixels.
The result will be 100 KB or just under. If your image is already below the limit, it's left untouched.
Getting the best-looking result
- Crop first. Cutting away background with Crop & Rotate means the available space is spent on what matters.
- Choose JPG for photos saved as PNG. PNG isn't well suited to photos and has to shrink much further to fit. Under Save as, pick JPG.
- Check any size rules. If the form also specifies pixel dimensions, use Resize Image first, then compress.
Need something smaller? Try 50 KB or 20 KB. For any other target, use Compress Image.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo to 100 KB?
Add your photo on this page and click Compress. The 100 KB target is already set, and the tool finds the highest quality that fits.
Will my image be exactly 100 KB?
It will be 100 KB or a little under, since upload limits are maximums. Some images can't land on an exact number.
Why did my image get smaller in pixels?
If lowering the quality wasn't enough to reach 100 KB, the tool also reduces the dimensions, and shows the new size in the results.
Can I compress several photos to 100 KB at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like. Each one is compressed to the target separately, and you can download them together as a ZIP.
