How to use this tool
- Add your WebP files. Drag them into the box or tap Choose WebP.
- Click Convert to PNG. Transparency is kept automatically, and there are no settings to adjust.
- Download your PNG files. Save them one at a time, or together as a ZIP.
The best choice for logos and graphics
Choose PNG over JPG when your WebP image has a transparent background. A logo saved from a website, for example, can be placed on a slide, poster or colored page and stay cleanly cut out. Converting the same logo to JPG would give it a white box.
PNG also suits screenshots, charts and images with text, because it never adds the fuzzy edges that JPG can leave around lettering and thin lines.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
WebP is built for small file sizes, while PNG is built to keep every pixel. The same image can easily be several times larger as a PNG, particularly if it's a photo. The image hasn't gotten any better or worse: it's simply stored in a less compact way.
If size becomes a problem, you have two options:
- For a photo with no transparency, use WebP to JPG instead.
- For a graphic that must stay transparent, run the PNG through Compress Image, which reduces the number of colors while keeping transparency.
Will it improve my image?
No converter can add detail. Any softness in the WebP stays in the PNG, but converting won't make it worse. If your WebP has already been heavily compressed, the PNG will look the same as what you see now.
Frequently asked questions
Does WebP to PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. Transparent areas in your WebP stay transparent in the PNG.
Is WebP to PNG lossless?
The conversion itself adds no further loss, because PNG is a lossless format. Any detail already lost when the WebP was created can't be recovered.
Can I convert an animated WebP to PNG?
Only the first frame is converted, so you get a still image.
Do you keep a copy of my images?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your images are never sent to us or anyone else.
