How to use this tool

  1. Add your WebP files. Drag them into the box or tap Choose WebP. You can add many at once.
  2. Keep the default quality. 92% suits nearly every image. Only change it if you need a smaller file.
  3. Convert and download. Click Convert to JPG, then save each file or download them all as a ZIP.

Why did my image download as WebP?

Many websites and online stores now serve images as WebP, a format from Google that keeps pages fast because the files are small. When you right-click and save one of those images, you get the WebP file, even if the page seemed to show an ordinary photo.

That's fine for browsing, but the file can then cause problems elsewhere: an older photo viewer or editor may not open it, an upload form may reject it, or a printing service may not list it as an accepted format. JPG has none of those problems, because practically everything supports it.

A note on animated WebP files

WebP files can be animated, like a GIF. JPG can only hold one still picture, so only the first frame is kept.

Images belong to the people who made them, so make sure you have permission before reusing a picture you saved from someone else's website.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open a WebP file on my computer?

Any modern web browser can open one: just drag the file into a browser window. To use it in other programs, convert it to JPG here first.

Will I lose quality converting WebP to JPG?

Very little at the default 92% setting. For most images you won't be able to see a difference, though the JPG may be larger than the WebP.

Why is my JPG larger than the WebP file?

WebP usually compresses images better than JPG, so the same picture can take more space as a JPG. Lower the quality setting if you need a smaller file.

Does this work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It runs in your mobile browser with no app to install, and your images stay on your phone.
