How to rotate a PDF
- Add your PDF. Drag it into the box or tap Choose PDF. A preview of each page appears.
- Turn the pages. Use the arrows under a page to rotate just that page, or the buttons at the top to rotate them all.
- Save it. Click Save rotated PDF. The pages stay rotated wherever you open the file.
Why rotating in your PDF viewer doesn't last
The rotate button in many PDF viewers only changes your view while the file is open. Close it or send it to someone else, and the page can be sideways again. This tool changes the PDF itself, so the new direction is saved in the file.
Why PDF pages end up sideways
- Scanned documents. Scanners often keep a page's direction as it was fed in, leaving some pages sideways or upside down.
- Phone photos of paperwork. A photo taken in the wrong orientation goes into the PDF that way.
- Mixed documents. Combining a wide spreadsheet with ordinary letter-size pages can leave some turned on their side.

The preview updates right away, so you can see the result before saving. Changed your mind? Reset undoes everything.
Your document stays the same
Rotating doesn't re-compress your PDF. It only updates the direction setting for each page, so images keep their quality, text stays selectable, and the file stays about the same size.
Does a document carry a certified digital signature? Any change, including rotation, can make that signature show as invalid, so keep your original.
