How to sign a PDF
- Add your PDF. Drag it into the box or tap Choose PDF.
- Create your signature. Draw it with your finger or mouse, type your name, or upload an image of it. Then click Add signature to page.
- Place it and save. Drag the signature into position, pull the corner to resize it, and click Save signed PDF.
Three ways to make your signature
Draw it
This is closest to signing by hand. Use your finger on a phone or tablet, or a mouse or trackpad on a computer. Sign larger than you need, because you can shrink it on the page, and that hides small wobbles.
Type it
Type your name and choose a handwriting style. It's the quickest option, and it's neat on any device.
Upload it
Sign plain white paper with a dark pen, take a photo, and upload it. Remove white background clears the paper so your signature sits cleanly on the document. Crop the photo closely first using Crop & Rotate.
Filling out the rest of the form
Many forms also ask for a date and a printed name. Use Add today's date, or type any text and click Add text. Each item can be dragged and resized separately, and you can add as many as you need on different pages, such as initials on every page.
Is a signature added this way legally valid?
In the United States, the federal ESIGN Act and state laws based on the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) generally allow electronic signatures to be used much like handwritten ones. There are exceptions, such as wills and certain other documents, and the people involved usually need to agree to sign electronically.
This tool places a picture of your signature on the page. It doesn't add a certified digital signature, an identity check or an audit trail, which some organizations require. If the document matters, check with whoever asked for it. This is general information, not legal advice.
Why signing here is private
Documents you sign often contain sensitive details. Here, your PDF and your signature are handled inside your browser and never sent to a server. Your signature isn't saved either, so it's gone when you close the page.
When you're done, use Compress PDF if the file is too large to send, or Merge PDF to combine it with other documents.
Frequently asked questions

Add your PDF here, create your signature by drawing, typing or uploading it, drag it to the signature line, and save. You don't need to print or scan anything.
Can I sign a PDF on my iPhone or Android phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser and draw your signature with your finger. There's no app to install.
Is my signature stored anywhere?
No. It stays in your browser while the page is open, and it is never uploaded or saved by us.
Can I add the date and my printed name?
Yes. Use Add today's date, or type any text and click Add text. Each item can be moved and resized separately.

Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
Not while it's protected. Remove the password in a PDF reader first, then add it here.
